Hello !!! Please help me!

I found documentation from Nutanix stating that Docker is not supported on Win2016 using AHV, does anyone know of any more recent documentation that informs the version of Windows that is supported on AHV?

Does Nutanix support Docker installation on a nested virtualization on AHV?    (version 2024)

Where did you found this documentation?

windows 2016 is eol so I assume you must use a supported windows version 😉

Sorry I didnt see the link you posted (don't get it why, I must be sleepy or so haha).

They say that nested virtualization is not supported. And the link on the article states:

Nested virtualization is only supported on AHV for 2 tested and qualified Microsoft Windows features:

  • Credential Guard
  • WSL2 (“Windows Subsystem for Linux 2”).

These scenarios allow for nested virtualization on AHV to run a Hypervisor in a User Virtual Machine (UVM) on top of the AHV Hypervisor. The hosted Hypervisor UVM has the ability to further run and manage UVMs (“nested” UVMs). Hardware and software support is required to allow for nested virtualization.

At this time, no other nested virtualization use-cases are qualified for support on AHV.

The Nutanix Ready program facilitates the testing and qualification of third party software and hardware vendor solutions to certify they are compatible with, and supported on, the Nutanix AHV Hypervisor. If you are interested in a 3rd party software or hardware vendor who is not already Nutanix Ready, please contact your Nutanix Account Executive to inquire about the possibility of a Nutanix Ready partner request.

But that doesn't mean it doesn't work. 😉 But if you need to run containerized workloads have a look at NKP.

Jeroen, thx for u help…

For some users, we have created virtual machines to enable remote work, running Windows 11 Pro. We have configured WSL on these machines, but users are reporting significant issues with slowness and freezing. Upon researching this feature, I found the link above. Therefore, I am seeking more recent documentation that addresses this issue.

Make sure to use hardware_virtualization and not cpu_passthrough.
